Our Services Care Services Mental Health Conditions
Mental health problems,
sometimes referred to as
‘Mental Distress’ can affect
anyone regardless of age,
gender, race, or social
background.
One in four people are
thought to have a mental
health issue.
People with Mental Distress
can experience problems
that affect the way they
think, feel, and behave.
The term ‘Mental Distress’ is
used to describe a range of
mental health issues from
the more common problems
such as anxiety and
depression to the less
common such as
schizophrenia.
We can all experience
occasional feelings of
anxiety, worry and fear.
These can be normal
responses to certain
situations. For example we
might worry about an
upcoming job interview or
whether we can pay a bill on
time.
Mental health issues are
given names to distinguish
one group of symptoms
from another.
If symptoms and feelings
become more pronounced
and difficult to live with they
cause people to feel as
though things are worse
than they actually are.
This can lead to you
worrying all or most of the
time and can affect your day
to day life.
If you are in this situation
you should contact your
GP.

Through home intervention we aim to support people with
Mental Health issues to improve their own well-being.
We believe good emotional strength helps with stress, and
empowers people to take control of their situation. Also
having a good social network enables a positive outlook.
Dealing with Mental Health issues often needs a varied plan of
action and some support to achieve goals that you set for
yourself.
We will work with you offering kind, professional support and
encouragement to assist you to improve your well-being.
Some ways we can help you to…
Take Control
Feelings of ‘loss of control’ can cause stress, worry and anxiety.
The act of taking control is in itself empowering and a crucial part of
finding solutions that support and help you.
We can work with you to help plan and structure your day in a way
that allows you to take control.
Being Active
Exercise won’t make Mental Health issues disappear, but it can reduce
some of the emotional intensity that you may be feeling, and may help
in clearing your thoughts and enable you to deal with your problems
more calmly.
We can accompany you to a new exercise class, go for a walk, or go
swimming with you.
Assisting you with making those first new relationships that then
become friends.
Helping you back to
connecting with people.
Support Networks
A good support network of friends and family can help to ease your
worries and help you see things in a different way.
The activities we do with friends help us relax, we often have a laugh
with them, talk through issues, they can help us to find solutions to
our problems which in turn helps with mental health.
We can assist you with re-connecting with old friends, help to find new
activities where you may meet with new people. It’s always easier to go
to new groups with someone you trust, who understands your
difficulties and can assist in social situations.
Companionship
If you are not at the point where you feel able to make changes to
your life or be in a wider social situation outside your home, we can
visit you in your home and work with you to do other things that will
help you take control and help you to feel more positive like cooking,
assisting in caring for your house or flat, or with shopping or other
things.
